LCO annoucement: in need of raising NT 400,000 to purchase a car for animal rescue (LCO cats and dogs 119)

When accident happens, we can never bear to waste a single second to rescue a cat or a dog. Yet, safety of rescue workers should not be taken lighty either. We need everyone’s support to make this work, so our rescue workers have the tools required and ability to save more lives.

Regardless it is during holiday season, in the middle of the night, or a typhoon, our Cats and Dogs 119 unit still standby to protect the animals twenty-four hours a day. Sadly there are still many lives that our unit can not save, dispite trying our best. We are not seeking for anyone’s appraisal, only to want to do something for the animals in need. We are only a small team made up of ordinary people with a loving heart for cats and dogs.

LCO is a law-abding establishment of 11 years, following legal requirements to Ministry of Public Welfare and Public Service, applying funds to promote public welfare activities each year. All of our staff are recruited through the newspaper and no one is a relative member of the founder of the organisation. We come together to meet expectations of the general public.

LCO never received a penny from the government fund. With sincere thanks to individual contributions and donations, we know as a charity organization we cannot fail. We are the only light for cats and dogs in need. Motivated by many people that really care about us, we hope to achieve a lot, and we need your support to do more….

LCO has a total of five animal rescue cars, including donation from artist Fei Yuqing (two vehicles), artist Sui Tang (one vehicles) and former president of the Lions Wu Changlian (one vehicles).

Since our cars are getting old after 5 to 13 years of usage, we started to have several accidents in Taipei City, Keelung Road. The car stopped in the middle of the road, almost crashed into things.

Government staff of Taipei City Mr Chan Kam-ming has gathered that LCO will not be able to raise the vehicle by the end of the year, thus suspended the animal rescue work, since no one can afford to risk any human or animal life for the rescue work!

Our Cats and Dogs 911 animal rescue car was originally promoted by the Taipei City legislators Mr. Chen Jianming and Xue Ling in 1998 as the first special vehicle for "animal rescue". It was also a big step for the government pay their respect and attention to animal life.
